Once gaining good skills in database development, students will be able to study and gain an in-depth understanding of data warehousing which include concepts and analytical foundations as well as data warehousing development. Through intensive hands-on sessions, the students will be able to get familiar with related technological trends and development in the field. This will involve hands-on sessions, designed for data analysts, business intelligence specialists, developers, administrators or anyone who has a desire to learn how to process and manage massive and complex data to infer knowledge from data. The advanced skills and understanding you’ll develop on our MSc Artificial Intelligence course can take you into a range of exciting roles in different industries. You’ll be ideally placed to apply for specialist jobs such as AI/machine learning software engineer and AI data specialist.
This involves gaining an understanding of what Artificial Intelligence means in the context of autonomous systems, such as the key algorithms and techniques that enable rational decisions. This module aims to give you an understanding of the challenges posed by big data, an understanding of the key algorithms and techniques which are embodied in data analytics, and exposure to a number of different big data technologies and techniques. The curriculum comprises 180 credits, with one credit being equal to ten hours of student learning. The curriculum includes 60 credits in Semester 1, 60 credits in Semester 2, and a 60-credit project that typically runs from May to August.

Students will be offered lectures, which introduces the important concepts, explain the principles and techniques, and demonstrate how to apply them to solve problems in the related topics. The workshops will provide practical sessions to help students understand the content of the lectures and build the necessary skills to develop intelligent systems. The next year consolidates your learning with four computer science modules and two artificial intelligence specific modules. The computer science curriculum includes highly sought-after skills in cyber security, software design, object-oriented programming, databases, and web application development. The topics on artificial intelligence are machine learning, and machine learning operations. In the second year, you will consolidate your learning with four computer science modules and two artificial intelligence specific modules.
I’ve also authored over 50 articles and 100 papers in international journals and conferences – many of these published and organised by IEEE. Confirmation of Regulator The Manchester Metropolitan University is regulated by the Office for Students (OfS). More information on the role of the OfS and its regulatory framework can be found at officeforstudents.org.uk. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. We often link up with external professionals too, helping to enhance your learning and build valuable connections to the working world.
Our multi-award-winning work experience team has dedicated internship officers to help find the right work experience for you. Make the most of these opportunities and apply for our Work Experience Bursary Scheme, the Birmingham Undergraduate Internship Programme or one of our successful mentoring schemes. We accept a range of international qualifications, please contact the
admissions tutor for more information. We are registered with ACT, therefore if you wish to provide your qualifications to us you can find our details on their website. For GCSE, from the lower school leaving certificate (first year of the Vitnemål), the same equivalences would apply. Applicants with a GCSE English grade 4/C equivalent or a degree from the University of Malta are exempt from taking an English proficiency test.
Is AI a science or is it engineering?
What is artificial intelligence? A. It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable.
This online prospectus has been drafted in advance of the academic year to which it applies. Every effort has been made to ensure that the information is accurate at the time of publishing, but changes (for example to course content) are likely to occur given the interval between publishing and artificial intelligence engineer degree commencement of the course. It is therefore very important to check this website for any updates before you apply for the course where there has been an interval between you reading this website and applying. The aim of this module is to cover fundamental mathematics for Computer Scientists.
Our four year BSc Computer Science Honours degree with a specialism in Artificial Intelligence is oriented to providing computer science students with the latest techniques in Artificial Intelligence. We aim to teach people not just how to deploy cutting edge tools and techniques, but how to build the next generation of software tools that others will use. This programme aims to give a well-integrated balance of theoretical underpinnings and practical experience, strongly informed by the research expertise of our academic staff.

We will consider students who have taken A level examinations and the International Baccalaureate (IB) for entrance to undergraduate programmes. For more information on our foundation programme, please visit the Foundation Pathways website. This online artificial intelligence programme can lead to a wide range of careers in IT, particularly with respect to the design and development of intelligent systems. Job roles may include data scientist, AI developer, AI consultant, machine learning engineer, research scientist and information strategy manager. The module is concerned with the study and application of tools and techniques that enable the protection of information and other resources of enterprise information systems. Increases in storage, manipulation, and transfer of data across computer networks requires effective encryption techniques.
Rising to the challenge of a changing world, our postgraduate courses are designed to shape the next generation of urbanists, scientists, engineers, consultants and leaders. When not attending lectures, seminars and other timetabled sessions, we encourage you to continue learning independently through self-study. Software Developer/Engineer, Data Scientist and Data Engineer are occupations that have seen a significant growth in demand for AI skills, according to a recent report from Lightcast.
If you’re a UK or EU student and your household income is under £25,000 a year, you may be able to get a University of Southampton bursary to help with your living costs. ECS Entrepreneurs is a student society that can help you develop your entrepreneurial passion into a business. It holds seminars and workshops on topics like coding and starting a company.
Our world-class teaching, research and industrial contacts will support you as you learn to understand fundamental AI concepts. You will study universal machine learning tools essential for any AI job profile, as well as specific practical and research skills on all five of the AI topics. Students taking part in activities relating to industrial experience in a computer science or software engineering https://www.metadialog.com/ enterprise may obtain academic credit for them. Activities will be related to demonstration of involvement in development of complex software in a team situation, subject to quality control procedures of an industrial or business practice. Evidence of working to and completing tasks relating to targets set by an employer and directly related to software development/programming will be required.
Emphasis is placed on guided, self-directed and student-centred learning, aimed at giving you increasing independence of approach, thought and process. As artificial intelligence gets widely adopted, its societal implications correspondingly deepen and broaden. Therefore, this module teaches the ethical implications of using artificial intelligence and will invite a critical assessment of such implications in the assessed work.
